What Does The Name "Light the Fire" Mean?

We and all other Pentecostal groups trace our history to a prophecy made by Jesus moments before He ascended to Heaven. In His last seconds on earth, He said "I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high (Luke, Chapter 24, Verse 49)." Jesus was referring to Chapter 2 of the book of Joel, where God said in part, "I will pour out my Spirit in those days (Verse 29)."

"Those days" started on one day in particular, the Day of Pentecost* in the year 33 AD (approximate year). On that fateful day, 120 followers of Jesus were eagerly waiting for what God the Father and Jesus had promised. The author of the book of Acts records:

"When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues [languages] as the Spirit enabled them (Chapter 2, Verses 1-4)."

We at Light The Fire! are not ashamed to say that God is still filling people with the fire of His Holy Spirit. In fact, we are still walking the walk and talking the "talk" as our ancestors did almost 2,000 years ago. In other words, we too speak in other languages as the Holy Spirit enables us

We encourage everybody that we meet to light the fire in their own lives by asking Jesus into their hearts and then by asking Him to fill them with the Holy Spirit. That is why we rally under the name "Light The Fire!" It is our cry to God and our prayer for you!
